'Game' Over

Tonight, “The Game” as we know it is finally coming to an end after nine seasons. The show, which premiered in 2006 as a spin-off of “Girlfriends”, followed the lives of professional football players of the fictional San Diego Sabers and the ladies in their lives. Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Pooch Hall carried the lead role as everyone’s favorite couple, Melanie Barnett and Derwin Davis. The original cast also included Wendy Raquel Robinson, Brittany Daniel, Hosea Sanchez, and Coby Bell.

In 2009, the show was canceled on the CW network, but was later picked back up by BET. Mowry-Hardrict and Hall made the decision not to return to the show, therefore causing producers to bring in Lauren London and Jay Ellis as the new leading characters. R&B star Brandy also joined the cast. For the sake of the finale, Melanie and Derwin will be resurfacing!

After nine years of ups and downs, it is very sad to see the show go. One of my personal favorite moments was when Wendy Raquel Robinson’s character, Tasha Mack, felt betrayed by her love interest Rick Fox and sang Rihanna’s “Take A Bow” in front of everyone at their job.

What was your favorite moment from “The Game” series?

Catch the series finale tonight at 10 p.m. EDT on BET.
