2015 has been a real journey for me. It has honestly turned out to be so much more than I expected. Especially when it comes to A Zealous Voice. At the beginning of the year I wrote out a list of goals that I wanted to achieve, but I never thought that some of them would actually be accomplished.
Those blog goals included:
-buying my domain (check)
-getting a branding consultation (shoutout to Mattie of Mattieologie)
-have a photoshoot for the site (check)
-getting t-shirts (coming soon!)
-making the brand an LLC (in the works)
I took the time to go back and look at my list of goals that I created on January 5th of this year and realized that over half of those goals ended up being accomplished! The funniest part of it all is that I didn’t even realize it. Can you imagine such a feeling?! God has been working with me in my life right underneath my nose and I did not notice until 8 months later. I had forgotten all about that goal list, but God didn’t. He knew the desires of my heart and He has helped me to receive them. He put on my heart what I needed to do to make them happen.
I have a few things on the list that are left to be accomplished, but now I know that if I made it this far, my other goals can be accomplished as well!
My remaining goals for 2015 are:
-grow deeper in ministry (serving on campus with our small group Bible study + a local young adult ministry)
-be debt-free (I’m almost done paying off two major bills!)
-get a 3.0 (this is my last semester in school and it JUST started, so this can definitely happen!)
-get my drivers license (my road test is at the end of the month!)
The best part about looking at these remaining goals is that they aren’t just sitting here. They each are being executed in some form. These are also things that I’ve prayed for. What I’ve learned is that while having faith is a very powerful tool, faith without works is dead (James 2:17). We act in line with what we believe, so if want to go to next level we will do what is necessary to get there.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). When we write down our goals, they aren’t accomplished right when we make note of them, yet by creating our goals we are expressing our FAITH that they will happen. Then, what do we do next? We execute them! We know that writing down our goals alone will not make them come to pass. We work toward what we believe will happen (with the help of God’s guidance) to get us there.
See where I’m going with this?
This is why I find goal-setting to be so important. Creating goals is a true expression of faith. We place in our hearts what we want to happen in our lives and we do what it takes to act on that faith.
So today I challenge you to write down your goals for this final quarter of 2015 and act on them! Take that first step to make sure you can check it off. But also make sure that you pray over these goals and that they are in line with God’s will for your life. Make adjustments if necessary and then watch God work in your life. It will happen for you!
Keep your faith high. execute and finish strong! #LiveZealously
