@@It’s easy to get caught up in what we think we want or need without realizing we’re shifting the focus from God to self. @@ “God, I want THIS and I need to have THAT.” But if we’re keeping it all the way one-hunnit (or ‘hundred’ if slang isn’t your thing), how many of us can openly admit that we actually have no idea what we want or need? I will very much be the first to say that I don’t know myself even a portion of the way God knows me. Before He formed me in my mother’s womb He KNEW me. He sees my tomorrow and the many years to come. But me? I’m still learning day by day. I can barely tell you where I plan to be tomorrow at 5 p.m. My thoughts in the moment say that I’ll be walking out of the office, but in reality I have absolutely no clue.
However… we all know Who does.
Matthew 6:31-33 is a very profound piece of Scripture. In it, Jesus teaches a very valuable lesson:
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.”
God knows what we need before we even ask (check out verse 8 of this passage). So then, @@why do we take it upon ourselves to try to muster up what we “think” our needs are?@@
You can make many plans, but the LORD's purpose will prevail (Proverbs 19:21).
Trusting God to provide your needs means surrender. Taking your mind off of what YOU think is right and allowing the One who knows to do the supplying is key. The moment you wholeheartedly take the focus away from self and allow God to do what only He can do, THEN will you begin to receive the blessings that He has stored up for you. As the saying goes, we have to let go and let God have His way.
Don’t play yourself by bombarding your mind with worry about what your feelings (which are beyond fickle) tell you that you must have. That type of living only shows the Lord that you don’t believe that He has the capacity to provide for you. Waiting on the Lord is never easy, but if you give Him control, I can tell you from experience that He will move faster than you would ever expect.
So are you ready for your blessings? Are you ready for your miracle?
