"This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9

This morning I read about a group of miners who ended up stuck 2,300 feet underground for almost 70-days. Their families knew that they were missing, but there was no way to locate them. Trapped between with little food and water to help them survive, they still stopped at nothing to find their way out. One day suddenly a drill broke through the tunnel, giving the miners the idea to send up messages on the drill until they were seen. Finally, by God’s grace, they were found and rescued.

Powerful story, right? As jaw dropping as this tale may be, it isn’t too far from what some of our lives look like at this moment. You may be feeling hopeless and stuck where you are with little to no resources. You’re gasping for air, searching for the light and making do with each routined motion. It seems as though everyone has forgotten about you. You’ve been working hard to grab the attention you’ve been seeking, but they still count you as lost.

Well, I’m here to tell you that there is hope. I personally feel like I’m between a rock and a hard place, but this story has taught me to keep going in the midst of it. The miners could have given it all up and allowed themselves to die there, but instead they continued to press forward until they were rescued. It may seem like there’s no way out, but God promises to be with us wherever we go. When we keep moving forward in the midst of adversity, we demonstrate our trust in Him.

Where you are at this very moment is not the end for you. Keep sending those messages up.
