*Trigger warning* For #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, we are discussing mental illness, including depression, anxiety and suicide. But remember, there is always hope.
This week we have mental health and responsible theology blogger, Ashley Burton of nuancedexposures.com in the studio with us! We start off with our youngest #BossOfTheWeek, 15 year old Moziah Bridges of Mo’s Bows, who just signed a 7 figure deal with the NBA! Then we break the ice and say what the best advice we’ve ever received. Be safe tho.
For the #CultureFix, we salute the heroes at Bethune-Cookman College who turned their backs on Massa Becky Devos. Then we go into some major layoffs in the black media world. What’s going on with Ebony, BET and The Steve Harvey Show? And we finish off with Lil Bow Wow being a lil cray cray. Why you always lyyiiinnnn?
In the #PoliticsFix, Nikki breaks down a new law that you may not have heard of. Yall know the FBI firings are just distractions, right? While that’s going on, the GOP is trying to pass the “Thin Blue Line” Bill, basically making blue lives matter a thing. We’re tired ya’ll.
Finally in the #FaithFix, we discuss mental health with Ashley, who recently graduated from Liberty University with a master’s in Professional Counseling. We read a portion of a blog post about her first time at therapy and dealing with depression. Ashley breaks down the reasons behind the stigma of mental health, finding a good therapist and how to best support those with mental health issues. And then we end with a powerful message: There is always hope.
